Miami County Mental Health Initiative

The Miami County Mental Health Initiative (MCMHI) was established with the support of a $44,000 state grant and collaborates with key local agencies, including the Miami County Sheriff's Office, County Attorney, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and Elizabeth Layton Center. This initiative is dedicated to enhancing mental health services, expanding substance use resources, and promoting suicide prevention for first responders and incarcerated individuals.

MCMHI aims to bridge care gaps for individuals in custody by connecting them to essential services before their release, ultimately striving to reduce recidivism rates. Among the key programs initiated by this coalition are the Sheriff’s Office Premise Alert system and a partnership with Elizabeth Layton's Behavioral Health Clinic, both of which contribute to improved mental health support and resources within the community.
